Large protest expected in Madison on Saturday
MADISON — Hoping to transform a legislative fight into a political movement, opponents of Gov. Scott Walker plan a major rally Saturday at the state Capitol that could attract one of Madison’s largest protest crowds ever.

Organizers said the rally could draw more people than the 100,000 who turned out two weeks ago for an earlier demonstration against Walker’s historic move that ends most collective bargaining powers for about 175,000 public union employees at the state, county and local levels.

Heightening the scope of the event, the 14 Senate Democrats who left the state three weeks ago in an effort to block legislative action on Walker’s plan announced that they would return today and join the protesters.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Walker said once the public sees government becoming more efficient, support for the changes will increase.

2. Walker said WHAT?
Walker said "once the public sees government becoming more efficient, support for the changes will increase".

To paraphrase that, what Walker really meant was: "As soon as morale amongst public sector workers improves he will order an end to the beatings". And everyone lived happily ever after.
