I sent him an email this morning as soon as I heard. I have been very worried. I was not so much worried about their death, but I had worried he would get stuck on the train, or whatever hardship, etc... They are ok for now. I've emailed him back, and will post a 2nd response when I get it. This is a mass email he sent out. He is Japanese. We were college buddies. He dated another Japanese student and she was my roommate. At the same time, he lived with a childhood friend that is like a brother to me. At one point, we were all in the same co-ed dorm. very fun. He is married with 3 young children, and one is 5 months old. I must have checked my email on my iphone 500 times today.
*********** Hi to all,
Thanks for caring me. As you know, we have a big earthquake yesterday. It was the biggest in Japan history. I was in western Tokyo area and had business meeting with my customer. We, Japanese, are used to have earthquake, but this one was totally different. The biggest of my life. All the tall building were really shaking and could not stand up. And you cannot recognize you become suddenly dizzy from earthquake. Every train sopped. So I had to walk to my home. And it took about 4.5 hours with suit and leather shoes. But I was lucky. Other people were pushing carts, caring babies, walking hi-heels, and walked more than 6 hours...
And the desperate area is east northern part of Japan. Some town were hit by tsunami. And all people in that town was just swallowed by tsunami. the news source says 200 to 300 dead bodies on the ground, but we cannot reach there....
Hope those people are safe and OK.
Anyway, myself and my family, all are OK.
Thank you for all to send email to me. This is just heart warm things to us.
We all know worst news are coming more and the future is dark now. But It is our turn to get strong and show our real spirits.
Some day I would like to talk about this incident with some jokes, my friend!! Hope you all are well.
