We've spent trillions fighting a nebulous, largely undefined enemy called Al Qaeda in the ME over the past 10 years. Turns out the real threat to humanity is Mother Nature. Now, I'm not suggesting we start a retaliatory war on Mother Natur , but can't we at least recognize that the War on Terror is a minor nuisance when compared with the consequences of natural disasters like we've been seeing in Japan, Haiti, and other parts of the world? A sane and responsible society would be investing in infrastructure, disaster planning, and mitigating the future effects of global climate change. Instead, we're pissing our future away by pandering to the paranoids and corporate military lobbyists.
We've been damn lucky by a way of our geographic location that we've not experienced such a natural catastrophe on the scale of this current event. But given the War on the Middle Class and our federal government that Republicans are conducting, we'll be even less prepared and capable to deal with one in the future. Gawd Bless America.
