I retract everything negative I've ever said about Ed Schultz, and thank him tonight.
I don't know how he has summoned the restraint and maintained his passion as demonstrated in his show tonight.

A BIG +10000000000 for Big Ed.

Ten thousand thanks from a working man to another. :toast: :fistbump: :bounce:

Rec if you agree.

7. Me too. When he first arrived on the radio scene I thought
he was a DINO, however, he was always good on labor so I grudgingly accepted him. But he has become outstanding since he got his TV show and particularly when labor is involved. Now he's a big huggable teddy bear to me. I :loveya: big Ed.

8. What a breath of fresh air to have a tv host
speak with eloquence covering the breadth of issues that impact the living standards of ordinary families under assault today. Thank you Ed and Rachel you have assumed a mantle of leadership and you handle it well. :fistbump:

11. It's been a mixed blessing...
Or a silver lining, or one door closes and another one opens...pick your metaphor.

Keith's departure was unsettling. I admit I was a little uneasy about how the new line-up would work out. I think there was a rough spot for both LO and ES, especially LO. I think Ed started to thrive very quickly on his new time slot and decided to seize the day. LO took a little longer to hit his stride at 8pm, but the last week or so, I think he's really done well. As for Ed, well, we were lucky enough to have him address our conference right before his contract w/MSNBC was announced and let me tell you, he and his wife Wendy are about the nicest people you ever want to meet.

As for Rachel, well, what can I say? She is the real deal. She is my hero. Not in a superman sort of way, but in a common sense sort of way. My admiration for her is immense.

I miss Keith, but it's as if he told them all on his way out the door to Take Names and Kick Ass, and they saluted.

Cec

21. Yep....b/c the PROBLEM is he HAS to work for BIG media......
Edited on Fri Mar-11-11 08:41 PM by BillyJack
....and EVERYONE are just puppets on a string to them.

The big monied boys make us CONSUMERS (NOT CITITZENS) *dance* to whatever they want. And we *glom on* (attach ourselves to) the latest pundit who says what IS IN OUR HEARTS.....and then those same pundits (like Jon Stewart, as an example....smart, funny, entertaining....did I mention *smart*) sooner or later betray *us*.

Everyone has their price. We see it with the Huffpost and the Jon Stewart Rally.

Good on Ed Shultz, but I'd bet he's going to get "followers" and then *flip*, just like an underwater house, ASAP.

There aren't too many (or ANY) high-profile ppl who stick to principles anymore. Heck, if they did they wouldn't be "high-profile" for very long.

on edit: changed :still: to :stick: in my last sentence.

15. He's a real pistol when he wants to be. I miss his "psycho talk" segment, though.
Because that's what they are, psychos.
And Ed called them what they are.
So, he had the backbone to speak for little guys like me.
So, I love him for it.

22. I like Thom Hartmann for his intellectual depth...

and I like Ed for being the one that first puts his foot forward to take risks when the time comes for that for someone out there... As you say, he's the man of passion that mobilizes a lot of emotion that's out there in a positive direction.

Mike Malloy has great passion and a great diabolical mind that explores conspiracies to the depth that others don't dare to, and was the first one to appropriately call Bush's crowd "the Bush Crime Family" before Air America even existed.

Rachel is like Hartmann in her depth of understanding and presenting of issues in a very effective way. And she reaches the young well like Thom reaches the older crowd.

Each one has a place in the scheme of things. I like all of them.

I didn't like him much when he was on Air America....seemed not progressive enough. But now....the man is on fire. I hate that they have moved him to 10:00. I wish they would keep him at 6:00 and repeat him again.

25. Fuck Ed. He didn't vote. And to all of those who did not, this is what we get.
Edited on Sat Mar-12-11 01:18 AM by Hamlette
And so no he gets to be all sad and outraged for ratings?

Please. It's all theater with people like him.

I would add that I didn't watch his show tonight so if he got down on his knees and apologized for not voting and promised to never be such a jerk again? A promised all his salary to the people he screwed over by advocating not voting (for some damned reason like to show Obama how mad we are or something) then fine.

Maybe I'll watch again.

Until then, fuck Ed and everyone else who sat out this election.

27. he declared a boycott and urged all unemployed to not vote
http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2010/08/msnbc-libtalker-announces-election.html

I don't know if he ended up voting or not but encouraging all the "99ers" to not vote for democrats in 2010 is irresponsible and childish.

30. Ed did encourage the 99s to not vote out of protest.
Edited on Sat Mar-12-11 07:38 PM by bluestate10
I wonder what difference that would have made in Wisconsin and close races? There were millions of 99s spread around the country coming into midterms. Ed's action is why I pray the 2012 election get overwhelming turnout from democratic leaning moderate democrats and independents, those two groups don't shoot themselves and like minded voters in the foot to prove a point.

31. As LBJ said: Any person not willing to settle for half a loaf has never been hungry.
Edited on Sat Mar-12-11 08:57 PM by Hamlette
I'm disappointed that Obama has not been more progressive but I am disgusted by people who won't vote Dem because of it.

I didn't think 2010 would be this bad. The perfect storm of tea baggers on both sides. Those on the right want to crush the poor, middle class, women and minorities and tea baggers on the left want to show Obama and Nancy and Harry Reid how mad we are they didn't give us a pony.

And unions are gone. Maybe forever. The incredible struggle to get the right to bargain collectively. The hundreds dead. Will we have to do that again? Or will we become a 3rd world nation?

But maybe we hurt Obama's feelings and maybe that was worth it? More like cutting off our nose to spite our face.
