Governor Walker, his Republican Assembly members and Legislators are a prime example of how “absolute power corrupts absolutely.” They framed their union busting strategy on the FRAUDULANT claim that the teachers’ union benefits were the primary cause for Wisconsin’s deficit. By their own statements and actions, they proved that their claim was a BOLD FACED LIE:
1) Even after Wisconsin teachers offered to give up their benefits, Governor Walker continued to promote his lie all over the airways;
2) Governor Walker’s Republican Assembly members LIED to their Democrat colleagues inviting them to “compromise” over the union issue, then immediately called for an anti-union vote with no debate;
3) Governor Walker was caught on tape stating that his union busting strategy had NOTHING to do with his state’s deficit;
4) Wisconsin Republican Legislators, actually, stated that “collective bargaining rights were NOT a fiscal issue” when they met under the cloak of darkness WITHOUT due notice, WITHOUT a quorum, and WITHOUT debate to vote collective bargaining off the books, and
5) Wisconsin’s Republican Majority Leader, actually, bragged on the FOX News Network that their union busting tactic would help them “beat Obama in 2012”!
What makes the actions of Governor Walker, his Republican Assembly, and his Republican Legislators so REPREHENSIBLE is not WHAT they did, but HOW they did it.
When elected officials ABUSE their power in order to sway a Presidential election, take away workers’ rights, lie about it, and then brag about it, they are ABSOLUTELY corrupt!
