" Münchausen by Proxy " as an understanding of the Republicans approach to caring for our country
Edited on Wed Mar-09-11 01:54 PM by masmdu
It occured to me that the Republicans are doing politically what people who suffer from Münchausen by Proxy do.

1. A caregiver (republicans who find themselves in positions of power)

2. intentionally make their ward (Government) ill or appear ill (defunding while claiming lack of available funds)

3. when in actuallity there is no problem (solvent except for tax cuts or misallocation of funds to wasteful expenditures, think military spending or unwillingness to raise taxes)

4.so that they may reap the rewards of adulation (privatize whatever they can to achieve wealth, where "wealth" equals "worth")

What is the cure for this?

1. Generally jail because the caregiver generally kills the ward. n/t

2. The cure?
Separate the caregiver from the victim immediately.

Deny the caregiver access to other potential victims.

Heavy medication.

Intense psychotherapy, the disorder being one of the conversion disorders, to get the patient to realize the true source of the behavior and teach more appropriate coping skills.

Jail is only a stopgap measure that releases the patient to harm again in the future.

4. Yep. Very apt observation.
The parallels are undeniable.

6. That's a great analogy...
They are definitely involved in the abuse of our nation.

7. Interesting theory
I never thought about it that way but it seems to be essentially what they are doing. After all, their stated goal is to reduce government to the size which will enable them to drown it in the bathtub (more violent imagery from the right-wing. That almost sounds like a metaphor for child abuse as well- like Munchausen)
