Rush Limbaugh Denies Paying Actors To Pose As Radio Callers
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/07/rush-limbaugh-denies-payi_n_832497.html

This in response to a nearly month old story which did not actually make that claim in the first place. It said that the parent company of Limbaugh's show, as well as Beck's show and Hannity's show, was doing this but did not specify which shows may have used the service.

Tablet noted that Premiere is the same company which syndicates many radio shows, including Glenn Beck's, Sean Hannity's and Limbaugh's. However, the magazine didn't claim that any of those hosts employed the service.

Methinks he doth protest too much.

There is no expectation for him to do any different at this point in time.

3. It's difficult to get excited about this.
Limbaugh is a pig, whether or not he hires people to call his program.

20. How does that rise to the level of corruption beyond what Piggie has been doing for years?
And take your condescending attitude and shove it where the sun don't shine. The hideous manners of those who post here is getting damned old.

23. Creating false beliefs is the mark of a master propagandist.
Using PSYOPS against the American people is against the law. Yet Limbaugh, and his masters, have gotten away with treason, let alone murder.

Regarding condescension: Look in the mirror, Buzz Clik.

Borrowing a page from Karl Rove or Sean Hannity will not help anyone's argument.

US Army may have used PSYOP against senators. How is that different from PR?

Must be that The Christian Science Monitor are borrowing from Karl and Sean, too, huh, Buzz Click?

12. On another note, isn't Methinks he doth protest to much kind of off
in this context? He's being accused of fraud and phonyism - of course he's going to defend himself. Wouldn't you? You get to a slippery slope where simply defending yourself is proof of your crime.

Anyway, Limbaugh is a jackass, but i don't think he does this. It's possible his screeners have; certainly some of the liberals they have on his and Hannity's shows are extremely stupid.

Bryant

14. Note that the original article didn't actually accuse him of this. That is why "he doth protest too
much" is appropriate here. Perfectly so. When one defends oneself against things one has not been accused of it raises questions of whether there are underlying feelings of guilt. He was not being accused but he defended himself anyway nearly a month later. That is the point.

13. Why not? They have fake news, fake astroturf organizations, fake
pimps and donors, fake scientific studies on climate change, evolution, pollution... Almost everything on the right is fake, so why would fake callers be a surprise.

19. Once you get them denying, the idea is effectively planted.
The RW has been doing this to us for years, the difference being that they use fraudulent claims (ACORN, Sherrod, swiftboats, etc.) and make us deny 'em while skillfully changing the focus of the story whenever we get a good one on them (AWOL).

21. If There Are Fake Actors Out There Getting Paid To Call Into......
Rush, Hannity, Beck, etc - I wish one or more of them would defect and whistleblow on the scam. One of them could make a lot of money writing a book exposing this scam. They can tell how it operates. Who they get the script from. How the call-in actually works. Then they could go on a book tour and be on Oprah, 20-20, Dateline, etc. Wow - wouldn't that be something?

22. Rushbo Doesn't Need 'Em...Others Do...
This kinda reminds me of the fake news reports that local teevee stations get caught running now and then...pre-produced video press releases they attempt to palm off as "news" and usually provided by some right wing shelter group.

After all these years and with over 600 or so stations that air him live (a requirement by his syndicator), there's going to be ample calls. For those who are familiar with his act, callers fill time or provide affirmation. Of a typical rushbo hour, he blows smoke for 80% of it...except when he's pissed off and then it's 100%.

Where the Premier agency is designed for are the little fishies in the hate radio cesspool...struggling local and network shows that need a "hot" caller to make noise. Or to come up with an "expert" whose name and title change to fit the agenda.

Notice the crickets from others on this subject...they now have cover from the "big guy"...

27. His call screeners can effectively do the same thing
He's even admitted on the air that the job of the screeners are to make him look good. I've read that calling their you can expect to have a long elaborate conversation with whatever "snerdly" so they can accurately gauge your suitability to be on his show.

Obviously there will be some built in bias toward those that fawn over him over those that take issue. It's also obvious that when he does let someone who disgrees with him on, they insure via the screener that said caller will be deemed none too articulate.

29. Called "Playing The Hits"
...the terminology used back in the early days. Yep...they only want certain types of callers. They're to affirm what the host says and makes them look good. Worse than someone who tries to shout Rushbo down is a fellow wingnut who has a better command of the issues. Now when you don't have those kind of callers then you turn to an "agency" to make sure you get one.

It's not just hate radio that does this. Sports talk has its share of "professional ringers"...some who work for teams and agents who spin the latest controversy. It's all about "entertainment"...a boring old lady isn't entertaining...a fully unhinged male wingnut loaded with kool-aid? They're the first call taken...

Especially the fact that he'll weed out a fellow kool-aider just because he might out kool-aid him.

33. Why Do You Think He Avoids Interviews?
He even shies away from many on Faux...you'll never see him with O'Reilly...who could make him look like the drug-addled baffoon he truly is. Initially I honestly believe it was more act that belief...a meal ticket out of the Kansas City Royals ticket office but now with all the money and attention, he's the political Charlie Sheen...just been at it for a lot longer.

Cheers...
