Toe sucker Dick Morris: "We should drug test every high school student in America"
Dick Morris calls Ron Paul ‘horrific’

If only Dick Morris would tell us how he really feels about libertarians.

During a radio interview with Peter Schiff, a former economic adviser to Ron Paul’s presidential campaign, Dick Morris thought he’d be talking about his new book, and seemed annoyed when he found himself discussing trends within the Republican Party.

Schiff, who said he noticed that nearly a third of the people he met at CPAC came from the “Ron Paul/Gary Johnson wing” of the GOP, with the rest in the more traditional conservative camp of Mitt Romney, asked Morris how he thought this would play out in the presidential race.

“I strongly oppose Ron Paul,” Morris said. “I think he’s horrific. He wants us to end the War on Drugs. He wants us to end the War on Terror.”

“Do you think we’re winning the war on drugs?” Schiff interjected.

“No, because we’re not fighting it,” Morris replied.

“We’re not fighting it?” Schiff asked. “We don’t have enough laws against drugs?”

“No,” Morris replied. “We should drug test every high school student. We should drug test everybody that gets a student loan. Anybody that’s using drugs should not get a government student loan.”

48. The sad thing is, you're right
And the real worrisome thing is, there is a LOT going on in Idiocracy you don't see. Yes, 95 percent of the world in that movie is comprised of idiots--but the people who set up the whole system behind the scenes aren't. Idiots cannot fathom the need for a nationwide network of bar-code-tattoo scanners that can track the movements of everyone even in private businesses like Costco, but they have one. Idiots didn't design the House of Particular Individuals (the name of the prison Joe escaped from).

50. They'd probably charge the student's parents directly in HS.
They could just add it to the student loan for college. Republicans would love that; people would be forced to pay increasingly high fees just to make use of the public education they are entitled to. Even better, the proceeds of this wealth transfer would go directly to their campaign contributors in the drug testing industry.

It's sad how easily Republican policy just writes itself. Just imagine the most asinine, backward way to deal with a problem you can come up with, and there you are,

37. What would they do in Alaska
ok, an 18 year old fails for cannabis in Alaska, which is legal for them according to state law, what would the punishment be? In addition states could also do their own student loans to get around the fact that the feds would cut you out of their student loan for using drugs.

44. It's a little more complicated than that
It isn't exactly legal in Alaska, as much as the Alaska Supreme Court ruled that possession and use of small amounts (a few ounces or plants) is protected by the privacy provisions of the Alaska State Constitution. While state authorities don't usually prosecute for small amounts of marijuana under state drug laws, they still have the option, which they exercise whenever it suits their purpose, of turning people over to federal officials for prosecution. Federally-funded or regulated programs that require drug testing are no different here. For example, if I work for a DOT-regulated industry and fail a DOT-required drug test I still lose my job.

And I'm not sure if the marijuana court ruling applies for similar drugs. For example, on my property several of the four species of "magic mushrooms" growing in Alaska grow naturally. Under state law, if I pick one I've committed one felony; if I consume some of it I've committed a second felony; if I share it with someone I've committed a third felony. It's a little hard for a libertarian anarchist to respect such laws, and I don't.

unless you have kilos. Ravin stands even though the cops dont want to admit it. Have you ever known a person prosecuted by the feds for an ounce? you live there so perhaps you know more than i do, i have just read about it, i taught ravin v alaska to my students at the law school here in france

61. The feds prosecute what suits their purpose to prosecute
It doesn't take kilos. Members of our family have been prosecuted under federal law for possession of only a few ounces, and one of my son's friends was handed over to federal authorities by Fairbanks police for no reason anyone can understand except they didn't like him.

I have a personal bit of history about Ravin v Alaska. Years ago, prior to the ruling, I lied blatantly when asked during jury selection if I believed in jury nullification, just so I could get onto the jury for the trial of a young man being tried for between one and two ounces. As it turned out, I wasn't the only one, and the two of us created a hung jury by standing under "reasonable doubt" about the testimony of the Alaska State Troopers involved. The case was not retried.

I'm a "libertarian anarchist," so for me Ravin v Alaska would stand even if there were no Ravin v Alaska. Those in the legal profession don't like to admit it, but law has a long history of being shaped by the willingness of the population to violate unjust laws.

33. Why stop with the students, that won't win it either Smuckers Morris, you need to drug test every
American twice a day, every day, soon as they get out of bed, and during some random chosen hour, you will also need cameras in every room of their homes, cars, trucks and workplaces to monitor them in case they find a way to mask taking the drugs.

Any person caught selling, growing, making or using drugs should be executed, I see no other way to actually win the "War on Drugs."

If Dick Morris's kids needed this, then he should have tested them. Tests are available in the drug store. (I just learned this on my last visit to a drug store. I was shocked to think you could do a drug test in your own home.) It isn't fair to test children who are not taking drugs. It is demeaning and intrusive. Dick Morris is showing his true self. He just likes to demean and put down other people. Typical Republican in this regard.
