Last year, it was Michael Vick.

This year it is Donte Stallworth. For those who don't know, Donte Stallworth was convicted of DUI manslaughter. To his full credit, he took responsibility and showed appropriate (and in my personal view, genuine) remorse. He took the punishment from both the legal system and the NFL. I fail to see how this is "courage".

I am not equating Vick and Stallworth. What I am doing is wondering why an award that can show us people like Gale Sayers, who do boundless good, chooses instead to show us felons who get second chances.
