FBI looking into S.F. cops accused of illegal searches

And even as interim Chief Jeff Godown expressed frustration that he learned of the supposed misconduct through videos released to the media, the official who has made three videos public said Friday that at least one more might be on the way.

During the Henry Hotel searches, officers had a master key, deputy public defenders said, and in one case they used it to open the door so four officers could rush in and grab a suspect, who is seen being dragged into the hallway and handcuffed. In the other bust, one officer is seen covering the video camera with his hand, reportedly while other officers force the occupant to open the door.

Prosecutors have dropped one of those cases; the other was tossed by a judge.

Officers Arshad Razzak and Richard Yick signed the police reports about the Henry Hotel busts and described legal searches under the penalty of perjury.

No search warrants
Officers were led to the apartments based on informant tips and did not have search warrants. They claimed in their reports that they had followed the constitutional requirements of getting consent before entering and searching the rooms, then arresting occupants on felony narcotics charges.
