3. It depends on where you go. In courtrooms, for example....
you have to pass through a metal detector, and I'm sure that some have rules prohibiting attire that covers the person, and possibly just the head. Some (or all?) airports won't allow someone whose whole body is concealed (such as w/a burqa) enter the airport.

It has to do with others being able to see the person underneath the hiding garment.

It's just a costume, not obscene. We can't outlaw Halloween, can we?

5. Well, I sometimes wear a bathrobe to the grocery store.
I've been doing that for a long time, way before Lebowski.

6. The problem with the bathrobe is that it gets in the way ...
when I try to get my wallet out of the pocket of my jeans. And besides, it leaves fuzz on my shirts.

;-)

9. I carry a shoulder bag.
I also ride around town on a perfectly restored '66 Vespa with an all-steel Indian sidecar.

The tourists eat it up, and I give 'em rides in the sidecar. I wish I knew how to post pics or vids, because it is danged hilarious.

11. If you could only see me on my Vespa.
I ride around town on a perfectly restored '66 Vespa (w/original 6HP motor) complete with all-steel Indian sidecar.

But I also have a perfect '90 560SEL - the last great Benz - that I ride around in when I want to be formal. Last year, I drove it right up to the stage during Sonoma's Academy Awards party at Estate. Walked onstage and did "Weary Kind", from Crazy Heart - in full Dude mode. I look so much like Jeff Bridges that people ask me for autographs, all the time. They say crap like, "Dude, you will always abide." My hair is a lot longer than his, but folks just don't get it.

Since I never go to movies, I was totally unaware of what it was all about until several years after Lebowski was released.

Pretty danged funny.
