We are seeing the further closing in of the society. Now with all the Civil Service jobs made into POLITICAL appointments what Walker is doing is creating a POLITICAL PATRONAGE system. This is a classic of authoritarian states in the modern period. While the US has had patronage systems in place (see 19th century), what Walker is doing is going more after the Mubarak or yes Fascist systems of Pinochet, Franco or for that matter Mussolini or Hitler. Yes, the system is also similar to the OTHER side of the spectrum, that is the Communist Aparatchicks but given these guys are not interesting in serving longer than one or two terms, it is closer to the right than the far left.

So yes, you are seeing an acceleration of the closing of American Society, and now that has moved to the states. And yes bet your silly asses that most of the people fired will be loud DEMOCRATS. For those keeping score on things like this,,, guess who ELSE did this historically? Oh yes the Nazi Party and the Fascist Party... did I mention the third Fascist party in Europe? Yep, the one that made it all the way to the 1970s? We are not seeing anything we have not seen, and keeping our heads in the sand will NOT help. If we resist now PERHAPS we might be able to stop it. I fear it is too far gone though and it will take organized and LONG TERM resistance.

1. Francisco Franco is still dead. Nonetheless, he's now Governor of Wisconsin.
Is the GOP the new Filange Party? Is that what you meant by "the third Fascist Party in Europe", or would that be Tony Blair's New Labour?
