MADISON, Wis. -- Police have arrested a woman who attempted to charge past a state Capitol security checkpoint.

Capitol police said Elizabeth Ringle, of Madison, was arrested Friday morning after she refused to submit to security checks for weapons or prohibited items. Police said Ringle ignored multiple requests to comply with the checks and then attempted to run past officers into the Capitol.

She was charged in connection with disorderly conduct.

There have been 15 other arrests since protests began three weeks ago. Nine protesters were arrested on Feb. 17 for disorderly conduct during state Senate and Assembly sessions. The only other arrest came Tuesday, when a California man attempted to breach Capitol plaza security during Republican Gov. Scott Walker's budget address.

Protesters who occupied the Capitol since Feb. 15 left the building Thursday night without incident.

Sort of a unique thing to our Constitution.

4. Charging past a security check point is not smart and bad things will ensue.
This is just common sense given the situation there and we could certainly do without the casual hyperbole of fascist of Soviet tactics. Just ask anyone who lived under fascism or in the Soviet Union and they can tell you it is ridiculous to make the comparisons.

Since "fascist" has already been so casually tossed out there, what happens if the situation degenerates and there is a stronger police action? Will they then be call "super fascists"?

There is good reason for security at the capitol. The right and Walker have already talked about troublemakers. What if one of that sort were to get past security and do something nasty for which the protesters would get blamed. I was there Saturday and had no problem with the security and I would guess that most of the others there were happy there were security. If fact, most of the police and security I saw there were pretty helpful.

8. I thought the Tea Party protests had 2nd Amendment rights protected
in Wisconsin, when they brought their guns to the capital.

Why are they now screening for weapons, and what else is on the 'prohibited items' list?

12. The woman is clearly in the wrong here.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with having security checkpoints for government buildings.

13. The last time I visited the Federal Building in Duluth there was a
metal detector and an FBI agent checking visitors at the door. I don't know if that was every day or just when court was in session but I just assumed that was the practice since 9/11. Aren't there quite a few government buildings that follow this practice now a days?

Not defending Walker - just interested in the practices around the country.

15. Last year I was called to testify in a municipal building. I had to go through a metal detector and
had my purse checked. Given the mood in Wisconsin right now, security has every reason to check people entering the building to keep the protesters and Democratic Congressmen safe if for no other reason.
