Our union is having a rally next Monday in Santa Barbara
Edited on Fri Mar-04-11 04:37 PM by county worker

SEIU Local 620 Members
Local 620 is invited to show support to the following event on Monday, March 7th. We would like to encourage our members to show their support. Let's stand together!!!

Stand Up For Public Employees!

MONDAY, March 7th

12PM: Press Conference in front of County Building

6PM: Candlelight Vigil and Rally at De La Guerra Plaza

We've watched events unfold in Wisconsin and Ohio, as conservatives use the economic crisis as an opportunity, not only to threaten basic organizing rights for public employees, as well but also the very existence of public education, social programs and the basic functioning of democratic government. We also know that Governor Walker has many friends, allies and imitators right here at home:

- Here in Santa Barbara, local conservatives are using city and county workers as scapegoats in their efforts to take power.

- A statewide organization has formed to support a ballot measure that would take away collective bargaining for public employees.

- This week, UC Regent David Crane publicly endorsed just such a move.

We can't wait until we are at a crisis point. Our fightback has to start now. Please join us for these first events in what will need to be a sustained campaign to get the facts out about public employees, and defend the basic human right to organize and bargain collectively.

sloppiness or laziness. I've had it for almost 65 years now so I am use to dealing with people pointing it out. You've saved others the need to make a judgement.

2. We will try to be there....
Santa Barbara residents are very vocal in letting the public know how they can protest
for making a difference.

Hope it doesn't rain that evening....
