The Iditarod . . . . .
A great adventure?

Animal cruelty?

I love dogs. I know dogs love to work. Dogs who run and run (work) to the edge of endurance are . . . . ?

2. Its is one of the last great adventures.
I can think of only the Baja 500 as the only other race that is it's equal.

The arguments of dog cruelty don't wash. The dogs are bred expressedly for it, they live to pull. Dog fighting on the other hand is cruel. This isn't in my opinion.

Idtarod is a throwback to the way things used to be with man vs. nature. Likely may be that way again with the constant ignoring of climate change the weather engine is shifting gears, who knows what will happen.

Course my opinion is the future we are looking is a weird hybrid version of the movie "The Road" and "V for Vendetta"

3. It's not the race itself
It's how the dogs are treated by their humans. Seems to me that the dogs really
love to do this. They are hard wired for it.

4. I've had working ranch dogs. Idiattrod needs to be monitored, but...
not stopped.
Working dogs love to work, and the bond between a working dog and human partner is incredibly strong. Has anyone ever seen a dog happier than when they were running or chasing or working in concert with their human partner?

That being said, I would gladly eliminate every ornamental leg-fucking lap-dog on the planet without a qualm.

7. We have a Shih-tzu. They were bred as "companions"
Little, fluffy, frufru, pointless animals.

Until you get one. She is every bit as worthy as our Border Collie and German Shepherd Dog.

And she's not a leg fucker.

9. There are instances of cruelty and over breeding
However, anyone who has been around Huskies knows the worst thing you can do to them is leave them behind.
