MADISON, Wis. -- A Chicago man who allegedly unplugged extension cords from a Fox News van covering protests at the State Capitol has been cited for disorderly conduct charges by Madison police.

The incident happened just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on East Washington Avenue at Pinckney Street.

A Madison Police officer assigned to the Capitol Square protests Tuesday cited 23-year old Dan Edelstein of Chicago after he allegedly unplugged the extension cords. A Fox News staff member said the cords were plugged into AC outlets, and feed power to lights and cameras during broadcasts.

1. Are those AC outlets paid for by the gov't???
Was fox news using socialist power, mooching off the taxpayers, to run their little operation there?

Or did fox news arrange to pay the gov't of Wisconsin for the drain their presence caused on the budget?

2. I don't know, and article didn't say...
The news vans have been in that area for weeks, there maybe power access at various of the utility poles.

It is the state capital and it is likely that the energy company has thought of that service as a source of revenue.

For what it is worth, I never noticed any chords connected to buildings as I walked the sidewalk on the northside of E Washington.

9. It sounds like the cables were providing power from the truck
News vans typically have generators so they can operate in places without a convenient power source.

4. "Disorderly conduct"
Aka, we don't know what to charge him with, but he's done something wrong. We think. I mean, what was disorderly? He didn't cut the cords. He didn't, as far as I can tell from the story, swing them around or leave them in a state of disarray. And, considering the standard content of a Fox News broadcast, he may have even been performing a valuable public service, stopping lies from getting out into the public arena. The way the anti-woman crowd stovepipes practically anything into "your tax dollars paying for abortions" nonsense, I'm sure a pretty airtight case can be made for pre-emptive interruption of slander.

12. Sure, if you want to really get in trouble.
Personally, I think those kind of pranks are very counterproductive.

18. As much as I dislike Faux News
Attacking them in that manner only invites escalating retaliation.

You're wasting your time trying to provoke me.

21. Having been a manager in concert production for years...
I can tell you, anytime the press shows up...we know it's going to be a monkey shit fight.

It's like they only hire the retarded. Only one outlet near the media stand? They will continually unplug each other to plug their own stuff in. They will steal any extension cord. They will unplug anything if they need power. I've seen them unplug things that were crucial to events...just to get their stuff plugged in.

We had the Creative Coalition do an event in our venue during the 2008 DNC. The media working the red carpet (we had a bunch of celebs...my favorite being Jessica Alba) kept unplugging the frigging lights used to light up the red carpet to plug their stuff in.

One of those paste eating morons would come to me and say ,"The lights are out on the red carpet.".

I'd go out there. Low and behold, some media jack ass had plugged them in to plug in his computer. I unplugged it and dude flipped. Had to verbally undress him in front of everybody about the level of his intelligence, with the rest of the press staring on like dipshits. After this happened three or four times, I had to address all of them on how they were, "fucking idiots"...and that "if you keep unplugging this stuff you will not have any light to film your precious celebrities...any questions?". Blank faced stares.

And guess what? They did it one more time before the night was over.

The media...are rock banging troglodytes. They hire some of THE stupidest people I have ever met. Generally, when people are that stupid, a group home is required. Not these stupids. These stupids have been set loose on the world to do irreparable damage.
