An ABC affiliate in Charlotte, N.C. was briefly taken off the air.

Wendy Naidas, 51, entered WSOC-TV and, when stopped by a security guard, pulled out a gun and put it to her own head. Employees of the station evacuated the building and the station went off the air for about an hour during the 5pm newscast, according to ABC News.

Police were called and a SWAT team surrounded the station. After a brief standoff, Naidas was taken into custody. The woman never pointed the gun at anyone other than herself and police later found the gun was not loaded. She has been taken to Carolinas Medical Center Main for evaluation.

According to witnesses, Naidas was distraught about her financial situation and the act was a cry for attention.
