Huckabee "misspoke"...
Mike Huckabee, who has never indulged paranoia about Obama's birth -- and who has generally chided vitriolic attacks on the president and First Lady -- pretty clearly misspoke in a radio interview today, prompting a boomlet of outrage.

Says his spokesman Hogan Gidley to POLITICO:

“Governor Huckabee simply misspoke when he alluded to President Obama growing up in ‘Kenya.’ The Governor meant to say the President grew up in Indonesia.”

“When the Governor mentioned he wanted to know more about the President, he wasn’t talking about the President’s place of birth – the Governor believes the President was born in Hawaii. The Governor would however like to know more about where President Obama’s liberal policies come from and what else the President plans to do to this country – as do most Americans.”

One other correction to Huckabee's interview: President Obama didn't return a bust of Winston Churchill to the British; he moved it from the Oval Office to the residence.

Damn, these repubs misspeak a lot.

2. there is a difference between 'misspoke' and lied. that's like my kids
when they accidentally hit someone. but it wasn't an accident at all. i don't let my kids get away with that and i don't know why anyone else should....

3. It was a lie.
There were no Mau-mau in Indonesia, which was a Dutch colony not a British colony.

THe Churchill bust was returned to England. Just as planned. It was offered to Obama to keep it but he declined. The Brits sort of took offense. No biggie.

12. And he just kept misspeaking over and over...
Hawaii, Indonesia, Kenya, what's the diff? They are all exotic foreign places with colored people as far as Huckabee's audience is concerned.

19. Neither Kenya nor Indonesia are in America
So his followers wouldn't know the difference

Prior to Obama getting elected they probably thought Kenya was the way people in the New England States pronounce Kansas and that Indonesia was the state between Illinois and Ohio
