Frank Rich to leave NYT
Sunday Op-Ed columnist Frank Rich is leaving the New York Times and joining New York magazine, according to a published article on today's Business Insider:
http://www.businessinsider.com/frank-rich-is-leaving-the-nyt-for-new-york-magazine-2011-3
His last column will be March 13.

This creates an enormous hole in the NYT's Sunday Op-Ed section. Mr. Rich has consistently been one of the leading voices from the left.
Along with Keith Olberman's recent relocation, Mr. Rich's move will require new habits to keep following these two.
Big loss for the Times.

1. It is a big loss...
The opinion page of the Times will be decidedly empty...only Krugman makes sense on a regular basis.

2. We're also losing The Ethicist and On Language from the NYT Sunday Magazine.
What's going on at the Times?

5. Cohen is going on to write a book and I don't know what the story is on
On Language. Perhaps it just outlived its verve, once whathisname died (can't remember his name due to senior moment).

8. Yep. It was probably his "thing" and nobody else had his zeal about it...
it's the only thing I liked about Safire. Otherwise, he was a rightwinger and I couldn't stand him...

10. Media is becoming 3rd-world-ish, just like the rest of the country
The old purveyors of Pravda are down in hell, looking up and smiling at their soulmates Murdoch and Ailes.

12. Anyone want to bet on how much longer Frank Rich lasts?

Isn't he about the last non-conservative there with any name recognition?

I'd take a small bet he'll be gone in a year.
