Coming soon to the city of brotherly love
The U. S. Chamber of Commerce will be peddling through their Business Civic Leadership Center limb, a 3 day gig dubbed the National Conference on Corporate Community Investment at the Westin in Philedelphia, mid-April.

Here's a link to a bulk of information, including sponsors and the agenda, be sure to check out the closing event, "Plenary-The Intersection of Corporate Citizenship. They want to discuss challenges, I hope to see them provided.

To provide a little inspiration...16 seconds of commercial first, sorry.

For a little organizational support and a nod of gratitude to Mr. Brad Friedman for all he does in fighting the good fight.

4. We have all sorts of wacky conventions here.
Hell, the taxpayers even approved a new convention center and hotel.

Even idiots have money to spend on dinners, entertainment, etc.

5. That is interesting
Spoke with a brand new, three week old food bank. Lady there says they're feeding 600 non idiotic people a week and she expects those numbers to rise as word about them gets out. She's invited you to come see for yourself on Thursday. Can I tell her how to get in touch? Also waiting for word back from a local progressive journalist about that new convention center, a 51 to 49% vote.

6. I am super confused. Am I applauding the expense of the Convention Center or the 500M Hotel?
Are you criticizing my donations to the North Texas Food Bank or the United Way?

I just can't keep up.

All I said is that conventions bring $$$ to local restaurant servers, valets, etc.

7. The US Chamber of Commerce opposes all progress, apart from welfare for the wealthy.
From Mother Jones, Jan/Feb 2010 issue:

Fact-Checking the US Chamber of Commerce

EXCERPT...

For members of the Republican class of 1994, however, such consensus building was unacceptable. According to John Judis' The Paradox of American Democracy, Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) told the group's chief lobbyist that it was "the Chamber's duty to categorically oppose everything that Clinton was in favor of." Congressional Republicans threatened to ignore the Chamber and hinted that they might start a competing organization. The Chamber caved, reversing its position on the health plan and sending its new lobbyist to apologize to Boehner (now House minority leader).

Thanks for the heads-up, jotsy. Incredibly interesting times, ours.
