Yes it does snow in So Cal...

http://nadinbrzezinski.posterous.com/yes-it-does-snow-in-southern-california

I hope you enjoy the photos of San Diego's East County yesterday. Instead of me going to market, we took off to Julian. Those are some of the best images I got from my camera. I need to read the manual and increase the quality of these photos. (I mean the camera angle, I particularly love the barn and the sun in between the trees)

Let's see if this works here

1. All my relatives have been calling to bitch about winter weather this year...
Granted, the Midwest has had their share of snow, sleet, ice and even my Georgia sister has had to face the "horrifying" incapacitation that comes from even a dusting down there. ;)

Me, I really like snow, but especially the beautiful warm sunshine that comes even a day or so afterwards. Denver has had several very manageable storms this year, but the worst has stayed in the mountains and today is sunny and 60 degrees. But, we've got fire condition warnings today outside Denver. So, always something.

The first few hours when it becomes bright and sunny after a snow storm are my favorites. Enjoy. Nice pics.

2. That is why we took off
We get to enjoy it, and LEAVE

We also took the proper winter gear, but never got to use it. It was well above freezing.

3. About Twelve Years Ago
I went to San Diego with my daughter the first week of April. Just inland from the city, where the land begins to rise, there was a snowstorm. People were bringing out sleds. There were emergency stations set up along to border to help illegal immigrants in danger of hypothermia. It was an educational experience to drive over the mountains to Anza-Borrego State Park -- the minute we passed the summit and were out of the rain shadow, the land became dry and the weather hot and sunny.
