Afghan report: NATO strike killed 65 civilians
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/afghanistan/2011-02-27-nato-strike-civilians_N.htm

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Sixty-five civilians, including 40 children, were killed in a NATO assault on insurgents in eastern Afghanistan earlier this month, according to findings of an Afghan government investigation released Sunday.

Tribal leaders had alleged that dozens of civilians were killed in the operation in Kunar province, which involved rocket and air strikes, but NATO has not confirmed any civilian deaths.

The incident inflamed tensions between the Afghan government and NATO forces, and both sides opened investigations.

Civilian deaths have been increasing in recent months as insurgents appear to become more indiscriminate in their targets, attacking banks, supermarkets and sporting events. At least three separate attacks Sunday, including one targeting spectators at an illegal dog fight, killed nine Afghan civilians and two NATO service members, officials said.

1. Every day these criminal attacks are being ordered against
innocent civilians, who are the ones who die in them.

And we point fingers at Qaddafi and Mubarak! While these horrific, murderous attacks go almost unreported.

There have been huge demonstrations in Afghanistan and Pakistan against these murders of innocents.

I guess they will need a revolution against NATO forces and access to the social media, to stop these crimes against their citizens.

There peaceful demonstrations over the years, have gone largely unreported here.

The U.S. is going to have to change its murderous policies. It is being exposed now every day and NO ONE wants the U.S. and its brutal Western allies in their countries!

This is heart-breaking. It is slaughter and in the most cowardly possible way. By remote control!

Shame on this administration for continuing these crimes. They are now complicit, with blood on their hands.

6. And on top of this, some want to invade Libya
How many more deaths does it take? 10? 1,000? 100,000? I guess NATO's resolve to kill civilians is being tested against the Taliban's resolve. I wonder how Afghans feel about being between the hammer and the anvil? Ah, they probably don't understand the intricate dance of realpolitik on the multinational $cene.

9. I recall several campaign promises
such as "end the wars", "bring the troops home", "close Guantanamo". WTF?
In many ways this administration looks an awful lot like GW's third term.
Despite claiming and end to combat in Iraq our forces there are engaged in combat daily.
There are more American troops in Afghanistan now than any time since 2001.
Bombing the snot out of Pakistan is something entirely new and it isn't earning us any friends.
Chasing these AK toting pajama clad illiterates around the mountains and caves over there isn't going to prevent the next 9-11 over here.
The President said he would bring the troops home, well? Shit or get off the pot.

10. Of course, this won't happen when we bomb Lybia.
We'll only kill bad guys there.
