Palin foe granted protective order
Anchorage citizen activist Andree McLeod has obtained a six-month protective order against a woman who threatened her life over her public records requests for former Gov. Sarah Palin's official e-mails.

The woman, Clare Goodchild, also of Anchorage, admitted making the threats and apologized in court to McLeod. Goodchild said she "meant no harm" when she said she had the cross hairs of her gun scope on McLeod's head and that McLeod had "used up too much oxygen."

Court Master Colleen Ray, presiding over the case earlier this month, said she was troubled by Goodchild's language and would have had "fears and concerns" had the same threats been directed against her.

1. 'meant no harm'
Does she even understand the words that came out of her mouth? Anyway, it's good to see that the Court Master (a new term for me, BTW) agreed and issued the protective order.

4. Masters here in Alaska
are kind of like junior judges. For instance, we have divorce masters who hear all the noncontested dissolutions and whatnot. They hear the cases, make preliminary rulings and then usually a judge will sign the order.

remaining 49 states that a lot of the crackpot people here are the rejects from your states who can't make it outside. They come here with all their bullshit and figure they can live here and be as stupid and idiotic and dangerous as they were outside because we're a 'frontier'. Too bad if some of you don't care. I do. I live here.

I think the oil workers who came here in the '70s brought a certain southern mentality to Alaska that hadn't been here before. Jerry Prevo played his cards right, coming up here from Tennessee in 1971 and sucking all those gullible southern baptist folks right into his kingdom. He and his religious right cohorts wield much too much power in our political process. This woman here who threatened Andree seems like someone who has been brainwashed in that Prevo-like tradition. Since Sarah has portrayed herself as Queen Esther, the religious nuts will do anything to protect her.

I think this woman's guns should have been confiscated at the very least.

14. Poor, misunderstood Ms. Goodchild
I mean, you put up one little cross-hairs on a person's head, you say that person has "used up too much oxygen," and gee whiz if people don't just jump to conclusions! Will Mrs. Palin, usually so voluble on so many disparate subjects, have a comment on this terrible miscarriage of justice against her staunch supporter?

Oooh, listen: Crickets!
