birther ignorance abounds in tennessee legislature
2 Tennessee GOP lawmakers want presidential candidates to prove citizenship

MURFREESBORO — Two Rutherford County legislators are sponsoring a bill that would require U.S. presidential candidates to prove to the state of Tennessee that they were born U.S. citizens to run for the nation's highest office.

State Sen. Bill Ketron said he proposed the bill because he thinks President Barack Obama might be hiding the fact that he was born in another country.

"Why can't he (Obama) come forward and show he is a citizen?" Ketron said Friday, adding that he has read articles stating Obama has spent $2 million from his campaign fund fighting lawsuits to keep from showing his birth certificate.

Ketron and state Rep. Rick Womick, both Murfreesboro Republicans, filed the bill that would attempt to force those running for president to file a sworn affidavit with Tennessee's secretary of state proving they meet "constitutional residency requirements."

1. Why don't they just pass a law outlawing anyone but a white man from running for office?
I'm sure they can add in Protestant while they are at it.

Tea-baggers showing off their racism and ignorance as if they are virtues.

4. You forgot to add...
...That the white protestant male has to also has to be wealthy. We can't have just a regular working-class person of any race, religion or gender get too high up on the political ladder, now can we? Heaven forbid they might oppose the GOP corporatist agenda and actually work for the common good (oh noes!)

11. Considering Sarah to be a man...
...Would be an insult to the transgender portion of the LGBT community. Don't want to give her more credit than what she's worth. If she wants to pursue her greedy political ambitions, let her be bound and limited as a woman by her own party's testosterone-driven ideology.

2. Tennessee doesn't get to determine who is and who isn't a citizen of Hawaii. Hawaii does.
Hey, Moran Ketron! You want Obama's birth cert? Here it is. AGAIN.

10. What's in a name?
Looking over the LEGITIMATE birth certificate, one can see that his full name is Barack Hussein Obama. Common knowledge, something people of both sides already know.

What *really* ticks me off though, is how tea-baggers think having a middle name of "Hussein" somehow invalidates him as presidential material. "Moron" Ketron might as well add provisions to the bill that not only does a prez candidate have to be a birth citizen (definition of which is subject to selective republican bias), but so do their parents. Maybe even grandparents. Any way to keep the "riff-raff" (aka, any non-GOP candidate) out of political power. Nativism rears its hideously deformed head yet again.

12. Someone send Bill Ketron and Rick Womick a Heritage Foundation pocket constitution.
Someone needs to tell those idiots Obama could have been born on MARS and he would still be an American BECAUSE HIS MOTHER IS AN AMERICAN.

Seriously, I'm going to get me a whole damn case of constitutions and underline the part that specifies what makes someone an American and start mailing them out.
