OFA Organizing
I spent 4 hours today at an OFA community organizers meeting and learned so much! Things are HAPPENING. I encourage everyone to find your local group and either host a house party or look into volunteering.

We are gearing up for 2012 and lots of plans are being put in place for the next six weeks.

Sign up, log in and find your groups. And please understand this - there is a big repub push that is also starting. We cannot afford to sit this one out - we need to STEP UP and the time is now. Please add your talents and voices!

Shine On!
Annette

6. I'll be with you - I hope I'm right in thinking that
President Obama was going to keep things low key the first 4 years, cleaning up bush shit, and putting out fires as they come up. The world didn't stop just to let him get our shit together.

Don't get me wrong - he's made some huge changes, not all of them 100% of what certain groups wanted but, progress none the less.

Talking with my dil today she said, he's doing a tremendous job considering all the shit he had to deal with from day one, thanks to bush. She pays attention, votes but, she's not really a political junkie. I use her as my political thermometor. lol

I didn't single you out - meant to post to the original. Thanks for your kind reply. :hi:

3. Is OFA doing anything to support teachers, public workers or unions?
Because if they are not, I will not sign back up for OFA. I took my name off their email list a long time ago and I am not that ready to work my ass off like I did in 2008 if the organization will not help the people who provided a lot of the campaign workers back then.

5. Why, yes they are.
The Democratic National Committee's Organizing for America arm -- the remnant of the 2008 Obama campaign -- is playing an active role in organizing protests against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's attempt to strip most public employees of collective bargaining rights.

OfA, as the campaign group is known, has been criticized at times for staying out of local issues like same-sex marriage, but it's riding to the aide of the public sector unions who hoping to persuade some Republican legislators to oppose Walker's plan. And while Obama may have his difference with teachers unions, OfA's engagement with the fight -- and Obama's own clear stance against Walker -- mean that he's remaining loyal to key Democratic Party allies at what is, for them, a very dangerous moment.

OfA Wisconsin's field efforts include filling buses and building turnout for the rallies this week in Madison, organizing 15 rapid response phone banks urging supporters to call their state legislators, and working on planning and producing rallies, a Democratic Party official in Washington said.

8. That is good to know
Locally, many of the campaign volunteers found that after the election the OFA did not want to work on the same local issues they did so they set up a separate group. For a while they tried to work in tandem with OFA but they finally split completely.

I will check out what is happening locally. Maybe they will get me back though I cannot do as much as I did last time - physically I am not up to it.
