Worried by Wisconsin fight, labor rallies in NY
http://online.wsj.com/article/AP198841fe073b45f7bb41836a6f14e0ca.html

Several hundred demonstrators are gathered in front of New York's City Hall to show their support for government worker unions in Wisconsin.

They are carrying signs with slogans like "Unions Make Us Strong" and "What Happens in Wisconsin Doesn't Stay in Wisconsin."

Dozens wore Cheesehead hats or jackets showing their membership in unions like the Teamsters.

(snip)
New York Rep. Anthony Weiner told the crowd that workers were being unfairly scapegoated for the "crimes that happened down in the financial district."

1. Just came back. The crowd was way more than "several hundred."
Uncountable, really, as Bloomberg ( imagine if Koch and Walker had a child together: that's Bloomberg) stuck everyone in pens on the sidewalk, causing the crowd to overflow into the street, into the park itself and to the other side of Broadway. I saw some people nearly hit by a car while maneuvering to a place where they could see the speakers. What a guy!

Despite all that, the weather was good crowds were large, spirits and energy high.

No, I don't have any pics but someone will likely post some.

3. thank you Smarmie Doofus for the update
wish I could have been there. Seems they never give the true numbers when it's us having the rallies.

Wisconsin Labor Union Fight Sparks New York City Hall Rally

Thousands of people filled City Hall Park Saturday morning in a show of solidarity with union workers in Wisconsin.

As they waived signed reading “tax the rich” and “save the middle class,” New Yorkers rallied in support of those protesting a Wisconsin bill that would strip nearly all public employees of their collective bargaining rights.

Keith Henderson, a city maintenance worker, told 1010 WINS’ Steve Sandberg that unions have always given back.

Anthony Weiner comments, too
