On the Unions and especially their leadership...
We not only need to face this little factoid, that our politicos are to our right, but many of our Union Leaders have been playing cozy with them.

Look I am quite the supporter of the Union Movement... and it needs expansion, but... we are entering a new era of labor unrest... call it what it is. Methinks our leaders will need to realize that they either change how they deal with the bosses, or step aside. It is time to stop the concessions and it is time to fight... so perhaps labor will have to start with replacing our own leaders for people who WILL FIGHT.

Yes this is anecdotal, but I know of one Union who is not really fighting. I know partly why... but those tactics passed them by two weeks ago. Winds, change and all that.

1. The union movement definitely needs democracy from within.
I watched my local union president and our strike be destroyed by the national union leaders. The national union leaders were lawyers who had never in their lives been a worker on strike and shut down our strike to save money. It was pretty ugly.

That being said, I am 100% PRO-UNION. I just think there needs to be workers democracy within our unions and many of our national union leaders have been cozying up to the bosses and the politicians (especially those who do nothing for us) for too long.

2. Yep, and that is coming too
Elections in the near future at Unions will be INTERESTING.

Locally they are on the very edge right now. Meetings have become quite interesting.

3. SEIU leadership is about as Right as union leadership gets.
And it really pisses me off.
