Now is as good of a time as any to stand with people demanding true freedom and democracy and freedom from oppression.
Freedom from the puppeteers...

Protesters killed in Iraqi 'day of rage'

At least nine people have been killed in anti-government protests in Iraq as thousands take to the streets in cities across the country for a "day of rage".

Baghdad has been virtually locked down, with the authorities banning traffic in the city centre and deploying several thousand soldiers on the streets.

Still, several hundred people gathered in Baghdad's own Tahrir Square, calling for reform, but not regime change.

Mass demonstrations are also being held elsewhere in the Middle East

Or is the Obama Administration the puppeteer?

1. k&r for two very good and important questions...
I would just suggest that the administration is also the puppet of the mic - as all recent administrations have been.

2. This should be good

I started a thread earlier this morning regarding the Iraqi protestors.

Maliki is blaming them on Saddam's old Baathist party members.

I wonder when our mercs will start shooting them?

The Revolution will not be televised but it will be on Twitter.

4. I believe he'll only pretend to.
The US Dollar is tanking and the banks will order Obama to defend the "petrodollar" system. Its the reason why we went there in the first place. Its the reason behind Bush's naming of Syria, Iran, North Korea and Venezuela as the "axis of evil", because they just so happen to be the countries who don't trade oil on the petrodollar system. Although other countries now are moving into that direction too (like Russia & China).

You can boil all this down to an attempt to sustain the artificial value of the US Dollar. Oil is *everything* in the economic world and any country who holds a monopoly on what currency oil is to be traded in on the world market will have its currency significantly (and artificially) overvalued. So with that being the case, and, the US Dollar being the world's reserve currency creating yet another artificial demand for US Dollars, and, countries around the world wanting to dump the US Dollar as the reserve currency because we just don't produce anything anymore. Then the answer to what will Obama do to protesting Irais will with all likelihood be some sort of behind the scenes assurance to make sure whatever the outcome is Iraq won't trade oil off the petrodollar system.

Well, that's my opinion anyway.

5. I recall the Iranian bourse referred to but I do not recall what that was
or whether or not what was then rumored to be a massive pullback from the use of US dollars in selling oil.

Can you educate me on what went down with that situation? That was way back in the Chimpster's admin, second term, when the sabre rattling had everyone convinced we were about to invade Iran and the word was that we could not let them switch currencies taken in sales of oil. Was that all true, or was it a false meme?

Hands off my Social Security!

6. Isn't it ironic that the main square in Baghdad is also Tahrir Square
which means Liberation Square in Arabic from what I gather.

In addition to Baghdad, there were protests in Mosul, Hawija, Basra, Fallujah, Sulaimaniyah, some more violent than others.

"...While demonstrations in other Middle Eastern countries have focused on overthrowing governments, the protests in Iraq have centered on corruption, the country's chronic unemployment and shoddy public services like electricity..."

How many billions of our national treasure have been thrown away to the MIC contractors over there?

To what end?

We can't even keep their lights on and their water running.

No wonder that we cannot keep any peace either.
