There are good people out there
Today, brainfart, left wallet on top of car...drove through town.

Never thought another thing about it.

Get a call a couple of hours later...man found my wallet and saw my debit card from my bank in it.

Returned my wallet to the bank who called me.

NOT ONLY THAT, my wallet had been run over and stuff was all over the road, he gathered it all up.

Of course, nothing was missing. I need to mention that I live in one of the poorest counties in Texas.

Thank you, kind sir.:hi:

2. Yes, there are. Unfortunately, the stinkers usually get more attention.

3. Very good luck for you.
Actually, wallets get returned a lot. It's more the norm than having them not returned, I think.

4. Excellent!
Something similar happened to me in Selma, Alabama in 1988.

I don't know what would have happened if that kind gentleman hadn't rescued my stuff and made sure it got back to me.

I've never put my wallet on the top of my car since. :-)

5. Send an LTTE of your local paper. It's a feel good story
and encourages people to do the right thing. :)

6. I think that in general, people are more honest than they are given credit for.
When my dad found and returned a fisherman's wallet along the riverbank he was almost offended by the degree of surprise and appreciation the fisherman expressed when dad contacted him. "Not returning it is just like robbing a bank."

I think this is a microcosm of a problem. The more cynical we become, the more antisocial behavior is expected and normalized.
