Where's Warren (Petryk, R-WI)?
Edited on Fri Feb-25-11 10:34 AM by Jackpine Radical
Dear friends

Thursday we traveled to Madison to add our voices to the budget bill crisis and to speak with Representative Warren Petryk regarding our concerns over the Governor’s Budget Repair Bill. We have repeatedly tried to contact Mr. Petryk by phone and email, but have been continually frustrated by his lack of availability . His staff suggests that Mr. Petryk and they were too busy to respond to his constituents or to check and clear his voice mail box related to this bill. Our attempt to speak to either Rep. Petryk or his staff in person on Thursday resulted in equally frustrating outcomes. We found his office wing at the Capitol to be locked and guarded by security officers, who had been instructed to say that neither he nor his staff were available to constituents. We called his office and left a message that we would llike to talk to someone after driving all the way from Eau Claire. .

Most disturbing was that while at the Capitol we attended the hearings on the Budget Repair Bill in the Assembly chambers. Mr. Petryk was absent from the floor for almost all of hour that we were in attendance. However, without his even hearing the testimony, Mr. Petryk’s votes were cast for him by a fellow GOP Assembly person at least 3 times. We found this practice of voting by proxy by any member, Democrat or Republican, surprising and disturbing. We have to wonder who Mr. Petryk actually represents.

(Email from an observer at the Assembly circus yesterday)

2. I know someone who knows him.
He was apparently "terrified" by the "rioters," some of whom had the temerity to bang on his office door and call out for him. I think he spends most of his time under his desk, praying.

10. Not a solution until next year
Assembly members are elected every two years, so his first year isn't up yet. Constitution says no recall until after the first year of a term.

4. How do we know he didn't drop dead and they're voting
for a dead guy??? We should demand that he prove he's still alive. No fucking proxy voting.

6. Maybe he had a gig?

For more than 30 years The Memories have been entertaining audiences from coast to coast. With their unique harmonies and great songs, this WI based group is made up of Warren Petryk and Tim Stevens.

These guys used to be very popular... dunno if they still are.

Warren was pretty nice as a young man - I was shocked to see him run for office as a Puke.

Then again, I never knew him that well and haven't talked to him since the mid '70s.

8. I think Warren is misguided, not evil.
He's one of those hapless dupes that the Reptilians prey on. Some of these useful fools make it into low-grade political office, but they lack the psychopathic attributes it takes to really get anywhere.

I've heard Warren sing too. He was in a Christmas show at the State Theater in Eau Claire a year or so ago, iirc. Too bad he didn't stay with singing.

11. More on Warren, from another constituent--
Again from an email, not my first-hand writing:

My wife, ***, and a delegation of teachers met ol' Warren in his office a week ago Tuesday. She said he acted like a deer in the headlights. Apparently, talking to working people scared him. She also met with Ms. Bernier. She acted somewhat sympathetic but it appears her overt sentiments don't extend to bucking the Republican establishment.

--------------------------
My note:
"Ms. Bernier" is another newly-elected R Assemblywoman from an adjoining district.
