Next year, there will be elections. Whoever wins the presidency will support the right wing agenda, only the Republican will admit it.
Mr. Obama has been Bush III in almost every way, with a few things around the margins tossed as a bone. I f he wins, wars, drone attacks, no stimulus,budget cuts to essential safety net programs - all will continue to be supported by the White House.
A Republican president will be marginally worse.

We will lose the Senate - the Citizens United ruling took the lid off spending, and it sure worked last year for the GOP. Add to the mix the spineless group now in the Senate, and the GOP will rule the house. BTW? They will get rid of the filibuster.

The Dem base? We will stay home in droves, as we did in '10. Minorities, the young, etc, all will not give a shit who fucks them over - after committing big time to a Dem Party who did nothing at all for them.

The elderly will come out strong, again, for the GOP. Of course, they will keep THEIR social security as part of the bargain - only the middle age and younger folks will see it dissolve.

State governments will aid, as they are already, in destroying the unions entirely, abetted by the new corporatista regime (replacing the current one in Washington).

Say hello to fascism, my friends, for it's gonna be here next year.

One proposal cruised through the Kansas House on a 78-36 vote, setting it up for easy final approval on Friday. The proposal also would require every person to show proof of citizenship when they register to vote in Kansas.

Meanwhile, the Missouri Senate approved a constitutional amendment allowing voters to be required to show photo identification. If approved by the legislature, it would go to voters in 2012.

The vote in the Kansas House came after a plodding debate that didn’t reflect the emotion seen in the arguments over abortion, outlawing in-state tuition for illegal immigrants and a move to cut the influence of labor unions.

I think this is just the natural order of things. The global corporations demand subservient and cheap labor. The base will NOT stay home . . . Obama's chances of re-election look pretty good right now and will look better once the Republicans settle on a candidate.

Elderly coming out strong for the GOP . . . what's new about that? Senior citizens always vote in high numbers and many people get more conservative as they age -- that's just the way things are.

State governments going after unions? I don't know, it's possible they will make some gains, but mainly in states with the most serious deficits. All of that will include huge fights that will energize the Dem base.

Fascism? I don't think so. Unfortunately for many people here 'fascist' simply means something they don't like. Even if all branches go Republican, they will all swing back to the Dems sooner or later.

The only thing I agree with here is the Dems losing the Senate. That looks likely since the Republicans have been making electoral gains and the Dems have to defend a lot of seats, some of which will be really tough to hold on to. But that won't last forever. Eventually the political climate will shift and you'll see the Senate flip back.
