Proposed Pet Ordinance Bans Tethering, Demands Bigger Kennels
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Big changes are coming to the way dogs are kept in Palm Beach county, if leaders at Animal Care and Control get their way.

ACC Director Dianne Sauve will go before the county commission March 1 to ask that the county's animal ordinance be made tougher.

The county already has a tethering ordinance, which forbids owners to tie up their pets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. if they are not present. The new ordinance would extend that ban around the clock.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for this community to say that dogs don't deserve to live on a chain," said Sauve.

1. If ignorance was money they would be rich.
A well designed chain is much better for a dog than a pen. They get more exercise working their chain than they would ever get in a pen. It must have a good swivel and be of sufficient length is all.My 14 year old dog has been tethered this way for years and is still healthy and happy.

5. Most leave their dogs 24/7 & the dogs become stressed and violent.

This may dissuade people who neglect dogs in this way from getting them. This area is known for large pit bull populations, and use the dogs just for security.

4. Dogs shouldn't have been domesticated at all. But I'm glad they were.
