Maine Gov. Paul LePage On BPA: 'Worst Case Is Some Women May Have Little Beards'
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/23/maine-gov-paul-lepage-on-_n_827208.html

AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine Gov. Paul LePage's comment that the only bad thing about a chemical additive is that it might give women "little beards" has drawn a strong reaction from a health activist group.

LePage last week said he's not seen enough science to support a ban on bisphenol-A. A 2008 law to keep it out of consumer products is likely to be debated again.

LePage is quoted in the Bangor Daily News as saying that all he's heard is that "if you take a plastic bottle and put it in the microwave and you heat it up, it gives off a chemical similar to estrogen. So the worst case is some women may have little beards."

Mike Belliveau of the Environmental Health Strategy Center said the comment "displays shocking ignorance for the science and a callous disregard for children's health."

1. Actually, it is more likely to feminize men
And effect their fertility. In the governor's case, that might be a plus.

However,it is dangerous for both children and wildlife, and the governor is an idiot.

2. Bisphenal-A is chemically very similar to DES - which poses a real cancer risk in children of women
who took it.

Bisphenol-A is found in the blood of most Americans.

LePage refused to acknowledge the "sound science" that he demands to justify environmental regulations.

yup

3. Good lord, estrogen will give us women beards!!! And good lord,
people who can actually do something to protect the population from any danger have no clue and don't have the sense to get information from authorities on a subject before throwing shit out there.

And good lord, women running around with little beards is a non-issue. Sweet.
