Freepers Discuss Carrying Guns To Atlanta Labor Rally
10:28 am EST February 23rd, 2011 | Conservative | 1 Comment
The Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Jay Bookman caught a message on the far-right FreeRepublic telling people about bringing guns to counterprotest a planned SEIU rally. Nice.

A call for armed counterprotesters to Atlanta labor rally

10:02 am February 23, 2011, by Jay

SEIU, the Service Employees International Union, is holding rallies at state capitols around the country to demonstrate solidarity with public employee unions in Wisconsin. The union has scheduled an event at the Gold Dome in Atlanta at 4 pm today.

This has been posted on the far-right Free Republic site, under the headline:
“Atlanta Tea Party and Many Other Groups, Facing Off the SEIU Thugs Wednesday”
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2678174/posts

“Members of the various Tea Party, 9/12, and other freedom-oriented folks in the Atlanta area will be assembling in the vicinity of Georgia State Capitol this coming Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm. We’ll be providing balance to the ravings of the passengers aboard the SEIU Thugbus, which is scheduled to vomit forth its stooges at that same place and time.

If you are within three hours drive of ATL, come join us.

Dan and others from RTC will be there, with the usual accoutrements. As always, each participant is responsible for compliance with all applicable local laws.

Rally point will be the corner of Trinity and Washington Streets in front of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Guide on the Gadsden flags. Rendezvous time no later than 3:45 pm local.

There appears to be some regulations re armed protests on the Washington Street side of the Capitol, so attendees are requested to be flexible in your attire. We will attempt (but no promises) to get some additional clarity regarding the situation and post it here prior to the show.

Take a stand.

Join us in Atlanta on Wednesday.”

............

Many groups are taking part including the Restore The Constitution Activists, so grab your weapons and pocket Constitutions and let's hit the street.

1. I guess they're just taking them
because of their sacred constitutional right to carry, right?

6. Why are they opposed to the most basic element of democracy?
The freedom to speak out, and to assemble peaceably and put forth your views on an important public issue?

What is wrong with the Republicons when they HATE basic American democracy so much that they would take up arms ?

7. Lets just say one of the ass holes murders an unarmed
demonstrator.

Is that going to help the anti-union approval ratings? Of course not, it already looks bad, armed Americans against lawfully assembling unarmed Americans? Who would a comic book super hero side with?

Of course this is a deliberate effort to incite the pro-union demonstrators to violence so Fox News and Breitbart can air the video.

Union folk, stay save, stay with a group, stay out of confrontations, walk away.

11. SEIU where I am represents nurses, social workers and similar workers...
Hardly "thugs".
Many of the members of that union that I worked with, and many in my own union, ADSCME own and carry guns, too.

For some reason the right - and some on the left - refuse to believe this.

12. Remember: you mustn't call these people fascists
They have some special right, I suppose, to employ their "Second Amendment Rights" to squash the First Amendment rights of others. I'm not sure how that is true, but it must be so. For if they didn't have such a right, then what they'd be doing would be straight up Fascism. I'm not sure why they're not Fascists, I have to confess, but I've been told a million times that you mustn't call them that.

21. How does that work? Do people who wish to speak all clam up if they see a gun?
What if the thugs are wearing police uniforms? It's getting awfully hard to figure out which people we need to be afraid of.

Are these assholes so set upon a civil war that they'll fire the first shots of one at unarmed protestors? Are they THAT despicable?

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_zWjKLU65DHk/S9Ku_rnJL5I/AAAAAAAAAoU/u2RGzKnbf6E/s400/union+thugs.jpg

They got little minds, mind you, but they really believe, in their little minds... that we are gonna beat them up.

Oh never mind that nobody has lifted a finger at a bagger yet... and I suspect nobody wants to. But this is what they believe.

Little minds and all that you see.

15. And THAT, my friends, is why I wouldn't leave home without one.
I'm not ready to die for the cause. In the words of Gen. Patton, better for the other dumb sumbitch to die for HIS cause.

Feel free to disagree. But somebody's going to get hurt before this is over. And I'd rather it be one of theirs than one of ours.

And no doubt they were correct. But I'm not ready to be a martyr, especially not at the hands of a slimy teabagger.

20. Well, I don't think I'll go to any of these things...........
armed, but I don't blame the ones who do. I'm closer to Malcolm X in my beliefs on self defense than I am to MLK or Gandhi. As long as everybody on our side remembers about graduated response, films EVERYTHING, watches out for each other, and keeps their wits about them, what will be, will be.

We can't be intimidated. These are our rights and maybe our lives we're fighting for now.
