Obama needs to speak out and Speak Out Loudly - Re: Wisconsin
Edited on Tue Feb-22-11 08:37 AM by FreakinDJ
The White House Press Secretary and President Obama himself reiterated day after day for Egypt to allow the peaceful protest, to Not Harm their citizens - and to allow Democracy to Work

Where is his Voice now that Workers Rights here in America is under Siege ?

Workers that arose to the call during WWII to build the weapons, planes and tanks that led the Free World to Defeat a Tyrant the likes of which the world had never seen before. Workers who built the Bridges, Dams, Freeways, Electrical Grid, and countless other infrastructure projects that has propelled America in our shared economic success. And finally Workers, and Teachers who keep our government running and educate our children.

Where is your voice now President Obama ?

Are workers undeserving of the Economic Success and the RIGHT to a Free America now being enjoyed by Wall St

2. Not sure I agree
Repubs already jumped all over him for making one comment, and keep trying to take the high ground with saying out of state union workers are coming to the protest. Wisconson has to do this just like other states citizens when it starts there.

6. Exactly what does "Worker's Rights" have to do with a Budget
The Unions in question have already conceded to the financial demands of the Governor.

He wants to Take Away their RIGHTs

How American is that ???

9. That he's going to join the WI protesters, that would be "new"
Then he could fly his big plane to WI, get off, and walk with the workers for a few moments.

Coverage would be enormous, his support for the workers would be crystal clear, and he would not have had to say anything (oh no!) new.

10. He should have his DOJ investigate Walker
and his cronies and see why Walker "thinks" this is the only way to go.

11. Not just loudly, but repeatedly
Unless President Reasonable is looking for a sensible compromise between folks who'd like to bludgeon public employees into slavery and workers who would like the state to honor the contract it signed with them. Now, what would that middle ground look like? A smaller group of bludgeon-wielding thugs? Thugs with truncheons instead of bludgeons? Let's all be sensible here, people!

12. Half the workers will lose their collective bargaining rights,
and the other half will get a free Target gift card!

Pragmatic and sensible!

17. Obama is the leader of our party. He should provide inspiration and guidance.
I realize that this is a state, not a federal, issue. Still, President Obama should come forth with more than a small statement. He can be a very powerful speaker. This is the time to use that gift.
