Big storm about to hit upper midwest, including Madison
After our recent warming trend, things are about to change in a big way. Starting tonight, a large storm will begin dropping up to a foot of snow, or more, on Minnesota, around the Twin Cities, then move into Wisconsin. Madison will get hit, as well, with freezing rain and snow, starting on Sunday, with winds and accumulations from 5-7" by Monday. I hope those at the state house know about this and will prepare properly for the weather.

Lots of people are focused on other things just now, but the weather doesn't care, and will arrive whether people are prepared or not. Right now, it's sunny here in Saint Paul, but that's all going away tonight.

Everyone batten down the hatches, OK?

Keep an eye on the sky.

1. In an age of iPhones....
...probably 1/4 of the marchers have real-time access to Doppler weather radar.

I expect they'll be ok.

2. That's true, of course.
In the midst of a demonstration, though, people are often caught unawares and unprepared for stuff not related to what they're doing. Folks are going to need their parkas before long.

I sure hope the protestors think to check the DU message board and look to see what Mineral Man has warned them about! I mean, I'm sure they do, so its a great public service he does.

5. If you live in Wisconsin and don't know how to dress for the
weather, best you move to Florida.

6. The brunt of the snow should skirt north of Madison
they may get and inch or so, and it's not going to be very cold. Have you never watched a home Packer game?? We're used to that stuff here. Hell, "we gotta fish right tru da ice" on Lake Mendota!
