Just saw on Milwaukee television

Republicans began meeting early, turned off microphones for Democrates
and refused to recognize Democrats seeking to speak.

WI Democratic Assembly Leaders near losing there temper in their angry reaction.
Assembly called off meeting because environment was to hostile to conduct business!!

I'm searching for a link.
Wisconsin Assembly delays vote on union bill, adjourns until Tuesday

the associated Press • February 18, 2011

MADISON — The Wisconsin Assembly has adjourned until Tuesday, further delaying action on a bill that would strip nearly all public employees of most collective bargaining rights.

MADISON — Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly have moved a bill that would strip public workers of most of their collective bargaining rights to the cusp of a final vote.

Majority Republicans convened the Assembly a few minutes before the announced 5 p.m. start time. No Democrats were present in the chamber when Republicans started voting on minor amendments to the bill. Moments before they were nearly ready to take the final vote to pass the bill, Democrats rushed into the chamber screaming "No!"

Assembly Democratic Minority Leader Peter Barca yelled at Speaker Pro Tem Bill Kramer to stop voting, calling the Republicans’ move an outrage. Kramer then stopped the process.

6. The senators are out. Not the representatives in the Assembly
There was fireworks! Amazing scene!

I've never seen the "Kill You Stare" between elected representatives before. It was INTENSE!

7. Wow! Can/will the Wisconsin Dem Representatives walk out too?
And hold this up? Or is it only a Senate thing?

9. They can walk out... But it would only make it easier on the GOP
They would still have a quorum... And now there would be no opposition.

The senate dems don't have the ability to hold out for long... But it's possible that the people can force the republicans to relent.

10. Can you outline which part was illegal?
I'm not saying it wasn't ... Just that I don't see it in the article.

12. The president has no role to play here
It would be an appeal to the state courts.

I'm not sure what the appeal would be.

13. Peter Barca the Dem Minority leader said so...
This from the JSonline link listed in an above reply:

In the Assembly, Republican leaders had called lawmakers to the floor at 5 p.m. to take up Walker's bill to repeal union bargaining rights for public workers. But they quickly began business just before that hour, when Democrats were not yet on the floor.

Democrats charged into the chamber and shouted to stop the action as Republican staff urged leaders to "keep going, keep going." Republicans took the voice vote, putting the bill in a stage that prevented it from being amended in that house. Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) called the move an "illegal vote" and demanded that Republicans rescind it.

"Unbelievable!" Barca screamed. "Unprecedented! Un-American! Not in keeping with the values of the state! You should be ashamed of yourselves."

14. And I'm sure that the republicans think what the democrats are doing is illegal
I'd like to see what law they're actually claiming has been violated.
