Think about it - for years the Republicans have demonized the Democratic Party while going along behind the scenes and shoveling money out the door to their buddies. Along comes a group that actually tries to enact what the Republicans have been pushing. People are being faced with reality, and they are finding they prefer the Democratic positions.

2. Do you have an example in mind?
I'm not sure what prompts you to say this. I mean, you are likely correct, I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from. Thanks.

6. I think
Edited on Fri Feb-18-11 02:34 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
that OP is trying to say that the Tea Parties have basically ripped the "mask" off the Republican Party and their goals by being so blatant with what they want to do- whereas the GOP has typically been able to be "stealthy" about their agenda. In that sense, OP may be right-----just as long as they're not actually able to enact their agenda into law.

7. Well, what's going on in Wisconsin is one example. On a related
issue, nothing made my entire week like the Tea Baggers in Congress voting down Boehner's hidden pork barrel spending.

If the Tea Party people screw around when it comes time to raise the debt ceiling, look for all hell to break loose.

5. I hope so, but human nature can be funny, especially if ego is involved
A lot will have "painted themselves into a corner" by being known as such strident supporters of the tea party, that they would be loath to appear to have cast their lot with the wrong sorts, lest cognitive dissonance eat away their innards.

You also have to consider some feel so strongly about a single issue ( god, guns, hatred of a group ) that they'll knowingly cut off their noses to spite their face if they stick with the baggers in search of those ends.

If nothing else, it'll make their hypocrisy stand out in very sharp relief.

10. Well they certainly are a thorn in their side
Ours, too. But they surely have pulled back a curtain to reveal some things about the GOP.
