Stockton school district gives away unapproved learning materials costing $4 million


STOCKTON, CA - Pallets of educational materials that were part of a program called Success For All are being given away by the Stockton Unified School District.

Success For All cost Stockton Unified more than $4 million, but it turned out the reading and learning program couldn't be used because it didn't meet California academic standards.

It wasn't long after former Superintendent Tony Amato forced Success For All into Stockton schools that he was fired.

The district was able to return any unopened boxes to the Success For All organization. Any boxes that were opened couldn't be returned so the district is giving away the material to any educational group that wants them.
