I am glad to hear that the Libyan people are speaking out against Gaddafi. The Great Unrest is now spreading to Libya.

I wish the Libyan people all the best in their endeavors for democracy.

27. What 'we' did for Egypt
is that we told the military that if they eased Mubarak out, we'd continue to let them suck on the $2 billion teat they've been on for thirty years. It wasn't tweets, it was teats.

We don't have that kind of leverage in Libya. They're pretty much on their own to overthrow their dictator.

7. Well, maybe it's outrage overload, you know...
Edited on Thu Feb-17-11 08:43 PM by robdogbucky
There were murders and hundreds injured by the Bahraini Security Police on sleeping protestors last night. That seems pretty outrageous, but no one has mentioned it much here.

There are potential hotspots appeariing all over the globe, Mexico included.

Benghazi, Lybia and Manama, Bahrain both had police massacres. Two police stations were burned in Lybia, so there is some retaliation by the protestors there as well.

34,000 dead in the last 3 years in Mexico narco wars. Anyone care? Any threads discussing the dire consequences of such atrocities so close to home?

Outrage overload is my dos centavos as an explanation to your question

20. "genocide" has some strict definitions and killing people with cameras doesn't qualify
Edited on Thu Feb-17-11 09:03 PM by uppityperson
I don't understand "they are killing aimless". Sounds like you are saying people who oppose Ghadafi (spelled however) are being shot?

While it sounds like a huge mess that we should be aware of, please don't use the word "genocide" unless it is. Killing political opponents is murder, perhaps mass murder. Shooting people who are protesting is wrong, but not "genocide".

Edited on Thu Feb-17-11 08:57 PM by Soral
Do a search for a # like #Libya or #Benghazi

then go to "real time" and it will show you all those using that tag... very useful

also on twitter, @ChangeInLibya and @Tripolitanian to be the best retweeters of info coming directly from protesters.

Libya isn't Egypt in many respects.

I believe most of the world would love to see the Libyan regime go down.
