Ed Mathwig: Walker has made series of mistakes
Since Gov. Scott Walker took office, a growing cloud of controversy has hung over Wisconsin. Beginning with his rejection of high-speed rail, attempts to nullify progress on alternative energy and wetlands protection, and continuing with political payback in naming the father of two legislators to head the state troopers, there has been ever-growing strife.

Add to that his request to assume oversight responsibility for legislative rule-making, and now, the vindictive, barbaric destruction of public workers’ bargaining rights leaves me wondering where I live. Alabama? Iran?

Additionally, the Walker administration’s plan to exempt from the punitive legislation being proposed, those who work in the public safety sector, once again smacks of political pay-off and further casts doubt on the integrity of this governor and his staff. To say that these people merit differential treatment by their work responsibilities is incomprehensible and ludicrous.

Should the governor’s budget be enacted without reasoned discussion and consideration of those most affected, the storm cloud hanging over Wisconsin will only become larger and more ominously threatening to all of us who live in our great state.
