Meet Rick Scott, self-appointed Emperor of Florida

This is Rick Scott, newly elected Governor of Florida. However, he seems to have appointed himself as some sort of supreme ruler. I'm almost surprised that he hasn't come out and announced that he is a direct descendant of the Sun God, or that he hasn't ordered the construction of a ziggurat in his honor. On the other hand, that would create jobs, something that he seems hell-bent on avoiding.

But why do I say this? Because in one fell swoop, he has rejected BILLIONS of federal dollars for high-speed rail. Without any consultation with Florida's political leaders, not even those within his own party. Truth is, he has almost as little use for establishment rethugs as he does for Democrats. The Emperor has made his decision, the parliament be damned.

Since taking office, Gov. Scott has made it very clear that he will be playing by his own rules, not the state's. One of his first actions was to sell off the state's private jets, preferring to use his own plane to fly around the state. When the media asked if Gov. Scott would be providing manifests and passenger lists for his flights, he basically told the media to pound sand, that because it's his private jet, he can do damned well whatever he wants, with whoever he wants, and doesn't have to tell a damned person about it.

Throughout his campaign, he routinely dodged the media, often refusing to take questions. Since taking office, this hasn't changed a bit. When he unveiled his budget, he chose to do so within the confines of a friendly Tea Party rally in The Villages, not at a public gathering in Tallahassee.

This is a governor who seems determined to play by his own rules, who apparently doesn't give a damned about Florida's Sunshine laws.

1. My deepest "thanks" to the stupid douchebags who voted for him.
Nice to know they could be bought so easily. Fucking idiots.

2. All that
and yet he was still elected. Go figure. Just like idiots in Ohio who voted for Kasich. I canvassed for Strickland and other Dems and the people whose doors I knocked on were all suffering from short term memory loss. As if the Taft administration was a bad dream.

8. I don't really care what their motivation is,
but shutting down the railroad hucksters seems like a broken clock moment to me.

9. Maybe this douche bag will end up in court and in a recall before Walker in Wisconsin.
He must figure he's the only one who can run Florida. I'm sure the conservanazis won't say anything, except maybe to deny that he's one of them.
I hope the ignorant fucks that elected this guy are happy for now. I'd love to see the look on the Florida teabaggin' kkklucker's face when it all starts to unravel.

10. Can't recall governors in Florida.
Our only hope is impeachment. Or indictment, which seems more likely.

11. From what I've read, he's pissing off some old-guard rethugs
Especially with this high-speed rail decision, he's really pissed off some high-profile rethugs, such as Congressman John Mica.

14. His vote woulda been scrubbed by JebCo, if he was a Democrat
But while Florida disenfranchies Democrats, Republican felons get a pass.

15. You wanted him, Florida. You got him.
Apologies to the SANE people who saw him coming 100 miles away. You have my condolences.

17. He looks like a Reptoid. I bet he's got a whole aquarium of snakes ta fuck.
And since they can't dial 911, because God hates the snake, he will continue to torment them and give long-winded Bond Villain-esque expositions about how he plans to fuck us all.
