green housing... in Baltimore
I worked here last year and this project delights me

http://onegreenhome.org/

"The One Green Home at a Time Foundation is a non-profit organization financially supported by Bridge Private Lending, LP. Our project involves an open-source, collaborative team of builders counseled by contracted “green” building experts. With the end-goal of LEED certification in mind, our builders are adapting green techniques to low budgets without compromising on construction quality. Featuring lower utility costs, improved indoor air quality, and superior finishes, our homes draw economically savvy residents out of the suburbs and back into the neighborhood.

Concurrent with the rehabilitation of individual houses, the One Green Home at a Time Foundation is working to actively engage existing residents and community leaders through several social initiatives. Our priorities include:

Creating public “green spaces”/community gardens
Establishing an Aging-in-Place program for elderly residents
Coordinating educational resources and on-the-job training for those interested in pursuing a career in green construction
Securing weatherization and lead abatement benefits for existing residents
Providing financial support for educational and afterschool programs at local schools"
