4. Perhaps...
...but I am no scientologist and abhor the level of drugs that pre-adolescent are prescribed.

Could be she is simply rational and afraid of the laws of unintended consequences.

7. I bet she's a liberal - 61 stickers on a Prius including Buck Fush
On January 7, 2011, an English teacher at Imagine Prep (Surprise, AZ) was fired for refusing to remove at least one bumper sticker from her car. It seems that, in the two months that she had been teaching at this school, a group of approximately five parents united to vocalize their opposition to bumper stickers on this teacher’s car, which they found offensive. The car, which hosts a total of 61 stickers, range in
content from environmental, to feminist, to LGBT matters, to political, to religious, to non-categorical. Three particular bumper stickers were addressed in meetings between the teacher, principal, vice principal, and Regional Director, and the teacher was placed on paid administrative leave for a day after refusing to move her car off campus. In the final meeting, the Regional Director, Linda Kiefner, issued
a directive: Remove at least one bumper sticker from the car (“Have you drugged your kid today?”) or park off campus for the remainder of the year. (The other two bumper stickers in question – one being political and the other being religious in nature – were omitted from the final order.) When the teacher refused to do either on the grounds that this directive was a violation of her First Amendment rights, she was immediately fired.

It was made clear to the teacher that the quality of instruction within her classroom was not being called into question. Rather, the issue was that “the interpretation of bumper stickers did not fit in with the culture of the community.” It may help to add that this was a public charter school – not a private, religious school – whereby the focus was to adequately prepare students for college.

8. Oh good grief...
which they found offensive....poor things, they should never be offended, eh? Piss on them. She should fight this and parents should worry more about actually raising their children than taking offense at a damn bumper sticker.

5. One thing I noticed about teachers... not to paint them all with a broad brush... but it looks like
they don't like to be told what to do.

9. True! But only when the instructions are coming from people...
... who haven't been there and don't know what's really involved.

One of the (unintended?) side effects of corporate ED "reform" is teachers are pitted AGAINST each other.

Does that really make sense in the educational sphere? If you're selling junk bonds or derivatives, maybe. But teachers need to *collaborate*; not compete.

This fact is lost on the folks driving OBAMA-style ed reform. They're a separate breed. They don't get it and never will.

even though it is my right to do so, it will probably be my last day.

You're probably thinking that's a pretty dumb thing to do.
Well, so is mixing the words kids and drugs in a place where there are kids.

6. 20 years ago I caught a ration of shit for a bumper sticker one of my employees had
It said "I brake for no apparent reason" and it offended some of the higher ups who believed that (get this) public employees should not be boasting that they are poor drivers.

They told me to make the guy remove it from his car and I told them to tell him themselves, it didn't bother me.

They grumbled a bit and left and the matter was soon forgotten, but it was just another indication to them that I was not a "team player". They couldn't get rid of me (years of excellent performance evaluations in my 201 file) but they managed to communicate their unhappiness with me at every possible point.

This teacher should fight this. Vigorously. It's nobody's friggin bidness what bumper sticker she has on her car.

10. Maybe someone ought to try doing this with a teacher who has
a bush/cheney bumper sticker (yes there are some out there) I don't want my kids being taught by someone who supports war criminals.
