House Republicans sketched their vision for a smaller federal government Wednesday, proposing sharp spending cuts that would wipe out family planning programs, take 4,500 cops off the street and slice 10 percent from a food program that aids pregnant women and their babies.

Top White House priorities also would come under the knife: Key Republicans are proposing to defund President Obama's high-speed rail initiative, slash clean energy programs and gut the Office of Science by 20 percent - cuts that would deal a direct blow to Obama's innovation agenda. They would also cut the Environmental Protection Agency by 17 percent.

So basically, gut out the EPA, gut out science and innovation, gut out high-speed rail, gut out clean energy exploration, cut cops, cut food for poor mothers and their kids, wipe out family planning, and..... nothing good will happen. The deficit will only marginally drop, the debt will not drop, and millions will suffer as a result. Will we get jobs from these cuts? No. They can just say they cut programs that help people.

1. predictions for 2012 potus

people predicting the 2012 POTUS race are really getting ahead of themselves. Obama is bad, the REPs are worse. Lots of people will be getting screwed at home now. What will happen is anybody,s guess.
A transition to less government spending is good , but without an economy there is going to be lots of unrest. Happening already. Cops being shot, weird bank robberies, seniors stealing food and drugs. Republicans for some reason are blind to these consequences
