Shaming Planned Parenthood and redefining rape...notice something?
I thought about this when I listened to yesterday's Morning Edition report on Live Action's undercover videos accusing Planned Parenthood of covering up child sexual abuse.

Let's see here, conservatives want to shame Planned Parenthood because they allegedly use abortion to cover up child molestation. Then they want to exclude "forcible rape" from the ban on taxpayer funding for abortion. Hmm. So to the right wing, abortions are cop-outs to cover up child abuse?

By the way, this is PP's response to the Smith bill.

1. Are you going to do a LTTE or a call to NPR?

Seriously, I think you should point that out in other fora. There are a lot of people who won't notice the parallel (or even hear about the Smith bill) unless someone draws their attention to it.

2. Morning Edition doesn't do a your letters segment
although All Things Considered does...but I don't know if ATC covered this issue, but I look forward to discussing this issue on DU, and I think there's a link between these two events with some subliminal message that I can't really articulate right now.

3. They dropped the letters segment?

I don't have the leisure of listening to the entire program each morning, but I do remember hearing a "your feedback" segment or similar on the air not too long ago. And their contact form still has the section where you explain how to pronounce your name.

In any event, what I'm saying is you might want to reach people outside of DU.

4. i'll build my letter on hypocrisy
that'll be the main point...and yes i did NOT know that ME had a letters segment! Here's what I plan to say:

I noticed something hypocritical about how the right wing is handling the abortion issue. On one hand you have Lila Rose going out to Planned Parenthood locations and claiming to know about underage prostitution going on. On another hand, Congressional Republicans plan on denying Hyde Amendment exceptions to victims of "non-forcible" rape. Looking at this, it seems that what's more important to the anti-choice crowd is their own selfish agenda rather than protecting women.
