Verizon iPhone on sale today in stores and almost nobody shows
Edited on Thu Feb-10-11 02:11 PM by KeepItReal
Local news here in L.A. showed a Verizon Wireless store full of red shirted employees but only a handful of customers.

CNET has a blog about:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-30686_3-20031276-266.html?tag=TOCcarouselMain.0

The blogger thought folks didn't come out because of NYC weather, until her counterpart in San Francisco found the same absence of lines.

Makes you wonder how many Verizon iPhone were actually available for presale to sell out in a couple of hours...

(I have an ATT one, but I'm not gonna move to a Verizon version that can't do voice and data at the same time and isn't even on their fastest network (LTE). ON EDIT: AT&T service sucks, so don't think I have any loyalty to those guys)

1. why would you?
There'll be a new phone available in four months, and it you were absolutely desperate, you could order one online and have it already.

4. Droid X... is that essentially Verizon's version of the EVO 4G?

3. I'm hearing Verizon's Iphone is having same antenna problems
So, while I am out of contract with Sprint, need a new phone, badly want an Iphone but cringe at the thought of At&t service in my area, I think I'm going to wait for iphone5. Let the dust settle. Like you, I would prefer to have the mutltitasking type ability to be online and on a voice call at the same time.

My old outdated phone is still functional and I've cut back the plan to as minimal as I can get, so I'll just save a bit of money each month until the next iteration comes out this summer.

7. Android is the wave of the future.
Edited on Thu Feb-10-11 08:12 PM by Statistical
A unified open platform supported with hundreds of models by dozens of hardware vendors and available on every network around the world.

Android already outsells the iphone. In just 3 years it has eclipsed the iphone in total marketshare. It is a great platform. It is cheap. It is universal.
Hell Virgin Mobile has a $149 Android smartphone (LG Optimus) w/ no contract and $25 per month data plan. For those who "like" being locked into a contract there are Android phones available for "free".

Within 2-3 years iPhone will be a niche player just like Mac are a niche player in the computer space.
Close, Proprietary, and Restricted always lose to Open, Universal, and Free.
