Has any politician, pundit, "journalist" in the MSM actually used the "d" word?
As in "Depression?" (Economic, not mental.)

1. Well, it's not happening to any of them so therefore it must not be happening.
I see evidence everytime I drive into town. Businesses shuttered, streets in awful condition (patch,on top of patch)and just the over all appearance of people.

3. I think it depends on the city where you live.
Overall, the country isn't at that level, although there are certain areas that probably are.

2. Why would they? Our conditions, bad as they are,
are not at the level of the Great Depression.

4. I heard it initially before we had positive GDP growth.
As in we may be heading for a second great depression.

Depression is a technical term like Bankruptcy.

One can be "broke" and not Bankrupt just as the economy can be struggling and it not be a Depression.

A Depression is defined as a sustained long period of negative GDP growth. We had 3 qtrs of negative GDP growth (2 or more is a recesion) and GDP is now growing (and has been for 2 qtrs) thus we sre not in a depression (or recession).
