Health Care: Cry me a friggin river for these poor little GOP freshman ba(&#ards
"GOP Freshmen Discover Health Care Hell
By karoli
Oh, the irony. The Politico interviewed several GOP representatives who opted out of their Congressional health care plans, and discovered they're all having second thoughts about that whole 'repeal and replace' thing. If it's not the cost of individual insurance that's getting them steamed, it's the pre-existing conditions.

But talk to some of the 16 freshman lawmakers who have declined their government health benefits, and you’ll hear a different side of the story — about tough out-of-pocket expenses, pre-existing conditions and support for health reforms that would help those who struggle with their coverage. As they venture into the free market for health insurance, these lawmakers — many of whom swept into office fueled by tea party anger over the health care law — are facing monthly premiums of $1,200 and fears of double-digit rate hikes."

1. $24,000 A YEAR??? WOW! Are they that stupid that they didn't
do a little research FIRST before refusing the gemployer sponsored HC? If they're really that dumb, they don't belong in congress at all!

2. Good.
Nice that they're getting slapped in the face by reality early on.

It may be too much to hope for that they suddenly experience overwhelming empathy with their countrymen and strong urges to do things legislatively that actually help them, but I'm hoping anyway.

5. Don't get your hopes up too much.
(Most) pols being only in it for themselves, they'll find a corporate donor or two (or more...) to pay their bills.

Understanding the 'lesser people' (their words) and their problems is none of their concerns.

8. Corporate donors can't pay their bills while they are in congress
They can nudge nudge wink wink about a lucrative job opportunity once they retire. But some of these tea-bagger types might have political ambition and thus might not be interested in leaving to go be a lobbyist quite so soon. In the meantime they will actually have to find a way to make ends meet. I won't get my hopes up that this will change a whole lot of minds, given that most congresspeople usually come from wealthy or at least upper-middle class backgrounds to begin with and have money stashed away to offset their inevitable decline in income. But maybe for a couple of these people, this could be an eye opener. If anything, it's a start.

7. They shouldn't worry too much. Within a few months those who are not already multi-millionaires
will be and affordability will not be an issue.

10. Maybe they're getting a "too late smart" moment
But I have to say that they should take any complaints, fold them six ways and stick 'em where the sun don't shine.
