Usually the IRS sends us a package in the mail right after Christmas with our tax forms. Not this year. I have been wondering if they were just late sending it out. I asked at the local Post Office and they don't have any there. I got the state form and booklet at the library a couple of weeks ago. I googled and found no info, maybe someone here can help me. TIA.
We don't do our own taxes so I really don't know. I just remember our accountant telling us we wouldn't be getting forms in the mail any more, the IRS stopped sending them out. That was several years ago.
You are supposed to copy forms from their site (irs.gov), or go to a participating post office or library, or go to your local IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center to get forms. What they really want is people to e-file.
16. They sent postcards in early December saying it was a cost saving
measure since 7 out of 10 filers were e-filed. Said you could go on-line and download what you needed or request by mail or email. Sounds like most third-party places people pay to do their taxes are required to file electronically.
Will say, the IRS website is complete and easy to use.
